When Filson introduced the Original Briefcase in 1994, their mission was clear: use the best materials available to manufacture a briefcase that would live up to their legacy of providing customers with gear that stands up to the rigors of hard use, year after year. More than a quarter-century later, it remains FIlson best-selling bag–a testament to the old-fashioned idea that if a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. It’s manufactured with the sturdiest materials and construction, wsuch as the Rugged Twill from British Millerain. It’s lightly waxed, so your valuables stay dry. The leather handles and straps are cut, burnished and edge-dyed in the Seattle factory from Bridle Leather hides vegetable-tanned by Pennsylvania’s iconic Wickett & Craig. Each hide is slowly steeped in a special bark-tannin solution, with tallows and waxes “hot-stuffed” into it during the final stages. This eco-friendly tanning process transforms cowhide into durable, pliable leather suitable for horse tack, saddlery, as well as Filson briefcases.
